Couples therapy

Are you feeling less connected to your partner?

Are you arguing or fighting more often than not?

Do you feel misunderstood by your partner?

Are you considering getting help for your relationship?

You don’t have to try to fix your relationship problems on your own! With couples counseling, you can learn proven techniques to reduce conflict, improve understanding, and strengthening your attachment bond.

The exercises you will learn and practice in couples counseling are based on attachment theory, emotionally-focused therapy, and Gottman Method Couploes Therapy (techniques based on 40 years of research).

The typical outline for couples counseling looks like this:

  1. First session: Intake & Assessment.  We’ll discuss your relationship’s strengths, areas of need, and your goals for the relationship.
  2. Individual Check-ins. We will have one or two sessions where each partner meets with the therapist individually.
  3. Sessions 2-7: Treatment planning & Processing. We’ll set goals and make a plan on how to reach those goals as you begin to learn and practice new skills that benefit the relationship.
  4. Later Sessions: Maintenance. As things improve in your relationship, we’ll meet as-needed to focus on things that pop up and continue building on the progress you’ve made.
